MY APPROACH
Hi, I'm Courtney. The way I work prioritises the relationship we form. I know everyone has special unique qualities and viewpoints and I believe these need to be sensed, seen, heard and responded to. A large part of my work lies in doing this to the best of my ability. The relationship we form will be the foundation upon which we will try to enable growth and change. We will work together to explore the problems and challenges that are affecting you and might look at how you respond to people, or stress, or how you behave in relationships, amongst other things.
We might look at your past, your present or future aims and try to identify where unhelpful responses or behaviours might be noticed, adapted or changed. There are ways in which we could use dreams, art or music to explore areas of your life. Guided visualisations could be another way we work.
However we work, I will prioritise you, your needs and your goals with the respect, empathy and open mind, that you are deserving of and entitled to.
AREAS I CAN HELP WITH INCLUDE:
Abuse, alcoholism, anger, bereavement, bullying, childhood sexual abuse, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME, creative blocks, cultural issues, depression, disability, domestic violence and abuse, emotional abuse, health related issues, identity issues, loss, men’s issues, money issues, obsessive and compulsive behaviours, panic attacks, personal development, phobias, physical abuse, post-traumatic stress, redundancy, relationship issues, self-esteem, sexual abuse, sexual and gender identity, sex-related issues, sexuality, spirituality, stress, transitions, trauma, work-related issues.
EXPERIENCE
I have experienced living with health issues and issues of difference and this has deeply informed the way I work; I see that we all carry issues and differences that impact upon us over the course of our lives and I feel well suited to working with others who are experiencing this in their own unique way.
I am interested in poly vagal theory and how it can help people who have experienced trauma and I hold a deep fascination for the way the mind, body and emotions connect; it is something I recognise personally.
I am involved with a Sickle Cell Disorder support group and used to work as an advocate for people with disabilities (that affected people physically and / or their mental health).
I was a DJ and artist after obtaining my degree, which led to work with young people excluded from school, and I am still interested in young people, their development and growth. I work in a school with students between the ages of 11 and 18.
SESSION FEE
My in-person fee range from £65 to £95 per session dependent on time and location. I am happy to discuss fees.
