FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION
Each of our counsellors offer a free 15-30 minute telephone or zoom consultation during which time you can ask any questions about counselling and logistical matters. If you wish to continue further at this point, you can arrange an appointment.
This provides an opportunity for you to talk each other in-person, online or by telephone in more depth. It is a chance for your counsellor to find out what brings you to counselling and what you hope to gain from it. Your counsellor will go through contract details with you, including contact information, session times, cost, confidentiality and privacy. Please see Standards of Practice on the About Counselling page and the Privacy page for further details. You can ask any questions you may have and if you would like to continue, you can agree a plan for future sessions.
LENGTH OF COUNSELLING
The duration of counselling can be short-term (6-12 sessions) or open-ended. Short-term counselling can often have a more specific focus than open-ended counselling. Open-ended counselling gives space for a more exploratory approach.
Sessions take place at the same time each week, and last for 50 minutes.
Our fees range from £50 to £95 per session depending on time and location. Some of our counsellors offer concessions. Please see individual counsellor pages for further details.
CANCELLATIONS OR MISSED SESSIONS
Cancellations or missed sessions may be charged at the full rate. Each counsellor has a notice period for cancellations, and this can be discussed with your chosen counsellor. We know there can be exceptional circumstances and your counsellor will endeavour to work with you to find a fair and equitable solution.
